The Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Dr. Shakhwan Abdullah said yesterday, Thursday, that all members of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, who support and oppose the authority, support amending the budget law in the interest of the employees of the Kurdistan Region.
Dr. said. Shakhwan Abdullah said in a press statement: “In order to address the problem of the salaries of Kurdistan Region employees in the Iraqi budget, we are making every effort to separate the salaries of Kurdistan Region employees from actual expenses.”
He pointed out that they sent two letters regarding the issue of salaries, one of which included the signature of 100 parliamentary representatives, and the Secretary-General of Parliament sent it to the Iraqi Prime Minister, and the Sudanese, for his part, sent it to the Federal Ministry of Finance.
He explained that “to solve the problem of salaries, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani sent two letters to Federal Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani,” indicating that “there is now a great understanding between Erbil and Baghdad to address this issue.”
He stressed that “all members of the Finance Committee in the Iraqi Parliament, whether participating in power or opposing it, expressed their support for amending the federal budget law for the benefit of Kurdistan Region employees.”
