The media advisor to the Iraqi Prime Minister, Hashim Al-Rikabi, confirmed that the battle for the dollar is nearing its end, pointing to reform plans for the financial system of the Central Bank, which will end speculative operations in the market.
Al-Rikabi said in a blog post on his account on the “X” platform yesterday, Friday, and Zagros Arabia followed it: “The reform plans for the financial and banking system, undertaken by the government and the Central Bank of Iraq, aim to build strong foundations for the stability of the economy, pave the way for creating a suitable climate for investment, and end... "Era of illegal trade, dollar smuggling, and speculative operations in the market."
He added, "In short, the battle for the dollar is almost over."
Iraq has been witnessing a major fluctuation in the dollar exchange rate for months, while the parallel markets witnessed a record high exchange rate after the Central Bank began using the electronic platform and complying with financial transfer standards. This fluctuation led to the parallel exchange rate reaching more than 1,600 dinars to the dollar, despite the approval of...
