The Industrial Estates Authority intends to announce the development of new cities in three governorates during the next year.
The head of the authority, Hamid Awad Muhammad, said that the authority is in the process of announcing the development of the environmentally friendly Wasit Industrial City with an area of 5,000 dunums, and the city of Maysan with an area of 1,827 dunums, designated for manufacturing, complementary, and craft industries, in addition to the city of Babylon, with an area of 3,581 dunums for pharmaceutical and food industries.
He added that the Authority will grant a development license to the Khazir Industrial City in Nineveh Governorate, with an area of 400 dunums, indicating that the Authority seeks to reach a physical implementation rate of up to 90% of the construction in Anbar Industrial City, with an area of 3,000 dunums allocated for small and medium industries, after its inclusion within The government program until 2025.
He continued that the joint economic city between Iraq and Jordan was announced for development, and a license would be granted to the city to be established within the economic city after attracting a developer, pointing out that the city of Dhi Qar, which was established on an area of two thousand dunams for small and medium industries, was referred for development due to the lack of allocations for the space. The remaining area, set at 1,800 dunams, will be granted development permits to the private sector.
He added that the Authority granted a development license to the city of Najaf with an area of 6,000 dunums for non-polluting industries, and work is continuing according to the timetable for its implementation, as the completion rate has reached 10%, noting that the industrial city of Karbala, whose area was set at 5,300 dunums for chemical, petrochemical, oil and engineering industries, has reached The completion rate is 21%, confirming that the Authority will continue its work to complete sectoral approvals for the rest of the cities and industrial projects.
