The 43rd session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs will begin at the ministerial level today, Wednesday, in Cairo, with the participation of the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Ahmed Al-Assadi.
The Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Social Affairs Sector of the Arab League, Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, said, “The session’s agenda includes several items, foremost of which is continuing to provide support to the Gaza Strip socially and humanitarianly as a result of the continued Israeli aggression against it, and the continuous increase in the numbers of martyrs and wounded, and the number of people.” People with disabilities, destroying infrastructure, and disabling all facilities.”
She pointed out that “issues related to multidimensional poverty, and topics related to the elderly, family and childhood, also constitute the main elements of the agenda, in addition to discussing the provision of support for social projects in a number of member states, as well as preparing for the fifth session of the Arab Development Summit: economic and social, as well as The 33rd session of the upcoming Arab Summit in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
She added, "The Arab Ministers of Social Affairs are scheduled to inaugurate tomorrow, Thursday, the Nour Initiative for Persons with Disabilities, sponsored by the Arab League and the Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity, to constitute an important model at the Arab level within the framework of achieving the principle of living independently for persons with disabilities."
