[rtl]Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari received NATO Assistant Secretary for Operations Tom Govus,
and the two sides discussed coordination and cooperation between the Ministry and NATO in the field of training and consultation.
Tom Govos praised the security stability witnessed by Iraq, which reflects on the security of the region, praising the role of the Ministry of Interior in combating drugs and securing the borders, as well as taking over the security file in six governorates, which shows the readiness of the security forces in the Ministry of Interior.
For his part, the minister confirmed that the Ministry of Interior has developed a solid plan to secure the Iraqi borders and combat drugs and crime, which decreased by 40 percent during the year 2023, and has also intensified its intelligence efforts to support the security stability of Iraq.[/rtl]
