    Today, Monday, the head of the Supreme Judicial Council, Faiq Zaidan, held a meeting with a delegation from the US Treasury regarding the recent sanctions issued against Iraqi figures and companies.

    The Supreme Judicial Council said in a statement received by "Al-Sumaria News", "The head of the Supreme Judicial Council, Faiq Zaidan, received today, the Under Secretary of the US Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, Brian Nelson, in the presence of the Chargé d'Affaires of the US Mission in Iraq, David Berger, and the Judicial Attaché at the Embassy." American Ellen Andrizzi and his accompanying delegation.



    The media center of the Supreme Judicial Council stated, "The two parties discussed the legal procedures and sanctions issued by the US Treasury Department (OFAC) regarding Iraqi people and companies."

    On Monday (January 22, 2024), the United States of America announced the issuance of sanctions on the “Fly Baghdad” airline company on charges of helping the Iranian Revolutionary Guard deliver missiles and military equipment to Syria.

    Representative Hussein Moanis was also classified on the US list, as well as Riyad Ali Hussein Al-Azzawi (Al-Azzawi), who is a specialist in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and an engineer in the Technical Equipment Directorate of the Popular Mobilization Committee, in addition to the official Salah Mahdi Hantoush Al-Maksousi, who is linked to the Hezbollah Brigades. Not to mention Akkad Mohsen Faraj Al-Hamidawi (Aqqad Al-Hamidawi), the younger brother of the Secretary-General of the Phalange.
