Asadi The Baghdad Municipality referred, yesterday, Monday, the project to implement the infrastructure of the new Sadr City to an investment company, within the first phase of the project. Director of the Relations and Media Department at the secretariat, Muhammad al-Rubaie, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah”: As part of the government’s directions to solve the housing crisis and solve part of the problems of abuses and slums, especially in areas with high population density, the secretariat has begun work on the New Sadr City project, which will include 60,000 units. By referring the implementation of the project’s infrastructure to an investment company yesterday, Monday. He stated that the project will be in three phases, the first of which includes implementing the infrastructure of sewage and electricity networks, extending pipes for drinking water networks, and everything related to infrastructure, after which the second phase will begin, which includes the construction of 11,000 housing units according to the vertical system. Al-Rubaie noted that the Municipality had invited companies wishing to implement the city’s infrastructure during November of last year, and a large number of them had already applied, and the Municipality chose one company out of five companies to initiate the project.
He pointed out that the new Sadr City will have great importance in terms of geographical location and accommodating the population momentum in the capital, especially since designs with new standards have been adopted in establishing cities that took into account the social nature of its location and its interconnection with neighboring cities.
