Former Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi described representatives in the current parliament as “disobedient” due to the absence of the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Al-Abadi said in a televised interview followed by Mawazine News, that “what is being circulated in the dark rooms about the removal of the Speaker of Parliament by a Shiite will to seize the position is nothing but a lie and a pretense,” pointing out that “if there are Shiite representatives who think in this way, they are miserable and do not represent Except themselves.”
He added, “The delay in choosing the Speaker of Parliament depends on multiple interests and members of the Taqaddam Party obstructing their own interests, indicating that the Shiites have no relation to the issue of choosing the Speaker of Parliament.” Al-
Abadi called on the leaders of the coordination framework to “hold a voting session on Speaker of Parliament and putting an end to this controversy, stressing that the Iraqi constitution stipulates the selection of an alternative to the Speaker of Parliament during the first session.”
