    Today, Tuesday (April 2, 2024), a member of the Parliamentary Security Committee, Representative Yasser Iskandar, revealed the content of Iraq’s strategy to secure its airspace after the frequency of violations increased at high rates .
    Iskandar said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “it is not possible to achieve real stability in light of the continuous violations of the airspace by unknown aircraft and drones bombing here and there,” pointing out that “denunciations and statements of denunciation will not fortify security and prevent stopping the violations that have begun to increase in frequency.” at high rates .”
    He added, "Iraq has actually begun to implement the safe skies strategy by contracting with France to acquire advanced air defense systems while adopting appropriate mechanisms to defend the airspace according to an expanded plan approved by the Air Defense Command," noting that "the matter was discussed with Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani." The Army Chief of Staff and we stressed the importance of an appropriate response to any violation of the airspace in a way that sends messages that violating sovereignty is unacceptable and that the response will be immediate .”
    He pointed out that "Iraq believes in a policy of non-interference in the affairs of others and prevents its territory from turning into an arena of threat to any country. In return, it refuses to have its airspace penetrated by marches and planes," stressing that "the next stage will witness important changes with a determination by the Sudanese to enhance the safety of the airspace and end Any loopholes contribute to the movement of any unidentified drones and aircraft .”
    It is noteworthy that a member of the House of Representatives, Waad Al-Qaddo, confirmed in a previous interview with “Baghdad Al-Youm” that “the bombing and assassinations carried out by America in Iraq are a negative factor of destabilization and have serious repercussions on the internal and regional situation and may lead to a major explosion because every action has a reaction.”
