head of the Wisdom Movement, Ammar al-Hakim, renewed, on Tuesday, the emphasis on Iraq's openness to everyone "in a way that achieves its interests and preserves its sovereignty," while calling for activating the partnership and cooperation agreement with the European Union.
Al-Hakim said, in a statement received by Mawazine News, "We met this morning, the European Union Ambassador, Phila Fariola, and we exchanged views on developments in the political scene in Iraq and the region, and bilateral relations between Iraq and the European Union countries."
He added, "We reaffirmed Iraq's openness to everyone in a way that achieves its interests and preserves its sovereignty, and we indicated Iraq's firm position on adopting dialogue to solve the problems of the region, which made it a meeting point and an arena for dialogue that does not interrupt, and we called for activating the partnership and cooperation agreement with the European Union for the support it provides to Iraq in the areas Energy, climate change, economic cooperation and the maintenance of good relations with the countries of the European Union and the countries of the region.
He continued, "We also heard from him the European Union's positive reading of Baghdad's transformation into a magnet for international delegations due to the stability Iraq is witnessing, in addition to the Union's desire to shift its relationship with Iraq from the stage of grants to the stage of investment."
