Preparations to operate the Halfaya gas processing project

The Maysan Oil Company discussed with its Chinese counterpart PetroChina the stages of starting the trial operation of the Halfaya gas processing project during the next few days.
The director of the Maysan Oil Company, Engineer Hussein Kazem Laibi, told Al-Sabah: The company reviewed during a meeting it held with the Chinese PetroChina Company the stages of starting the trial operation of the project, which will take place during the next few days, and the actual operation of this important project.
He explained that the associated gas processing and investment project in the Halfaya field (GPP) will operate with a capacity of 300 mqmq/day and consists of two power units, each with a capacity of 150 mqmq. He added that the project produces dry gas to equip electrical power production stations in the governorate with the quantities necessary for operation. Through this project, liquid gas will also be produced with a capacity of up to 2,200 tons per day for home uses and cars that operate on the
gas system.
Luaibi stated that the project constitutes optimal development and investment of gas from the company’s fields and is of utmost importance as one of the most prominent concerns of the government and the Ministry of Oil to support electrical energy production operations through optimal investment of associated gas produced from oil fields and reduce dependence on imported gas.
