Information / Baghdad
While the Iraqis were waiting for Al-Soudjani’s visit to the American capital, Washington, to decide whether the coalition forces would remain in Iraq, the results were ambiguous and unclear. Did Al-Soudani address this matter in his discussions with the US President, Joe Biden, or not? Are the Americans serious about leaving or not?
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
All of these matters will become clear after the Sudanese return to the homeland, as this issue is one of the axes that everyone is pushing towards, especially after the American practices that confirmed its lack of respect for Iraq’s sovereignty, as well as its seizure of Iraqi imports and other matters, which may push the Iraqi resistance to target The American presence in Iraq to gain sovereignty by force.
Al-Sudani is currently on a visit to the United States of America, and he met earlier with President Biden at the White House and discussed with him the situation in the region and the future of the international coalition’s mission to fight ISIS, in addition to discussing an agreement that would allow some American forces to remain in Iraq.
Prime Minister Mohamed Al-Sudani left with a large, high-level delegation of more than 100 people, on the 13th of this month, heading to the United States of America, at the invitation of US President Joe Biden.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani said during his meeting with Biden that US-Iraqi relations are at an important turning point, and we in Iraq are working to move from a military relationship to a full partnership with the United States.

He stressed that his visit comes at a delicate and sensitive circumstance at the level of bilateral US-Iraqi relations, as well as at the level of regional conditions and the “crimes against innocents” taking place in Palestine, as well as fears of the expansion of the scope of the conflict.
The visit aims, according to Al-Sudani's statement, "to move relations with the United States to a new stage that includes activating the provisions of the strategic framework agreement that are in line with our government's program, which focuses on economic and financial reforms, as well as on productive partnerships with various countries of the world."
Al-Sudani stressed that his meeting with Biden will discuss the circumstances of the region and the escalation it is witnessing, and the joint role in working to calm the situation and prevent the conflict from expanding in a way that affects overall stability in the world.
The meeting also reviews the work of the Supreme Military Committee between Iraq and the international coalition, which aims to reach a timetable for ending the coalition’s mission and moving to bilateral relations with the countries participating in it.
He reiterated that "the visit carries the desire to build a sustainable strategic partnership, based on mutual respect, and to preserve Iraq's security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity."
Yes...the Sudanese touched on the transition in relations with America, but the fears in Iraq are related to how serious the Americans are about leaving Iraq.
Some observers believed that the presence of American forces in Iraq would push the resistance factions to resume their operations again by targeting American bases in Iraq.
Political analyst Qasim Al-Tamimi expected that American bases would be targeted by the Iraqi resistance again.

Al-Tamimi told Al-Maalouma, “Keeping American combat forces in Iraq and not resolving them will generate many problems, as they have violated Iraq’s sovereignty and targeted military leaders and national symbols, and their departure from the country has become the least possible demand that can be achieved on the ground.”
He added, "The political courtesy and some parties' support for these forces to remain in the country comes to preserve their interests and to guarantee their presence in the political process."
He stated that "the presence of these forces will lead to opening fire on their bases, calling on Prime Minister Muhammad Al-Sawadni to resolve the presence of these forces."
In addition, Arab media revealed that the talks between US President Joe Biden and Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani touched on the Iraqi resistance.
These sources stated, “Biden asked Al-Sudani for the government to stop supporting these factions, which is what US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan discussed extensively with Al-Sudani the day before yesterday, Tuesday morning.”
Remaining in Al-Sudani’s visit to Washington, the Palestinian issue and the Zionist attacks on the Gaza Strip were an important focus of Al-Sudani’s attempt to visit Washington, as Al-Sudani stated that “Iraq, since the beginning of the events of October 7, 2023, was among the first to warn of the danger of the continuation of this conflict and its dangerous repercussions.” Because the region cannot bear these events and everyone must put pressure to stop this escalation.”

Al-Sudani stressed that the Iraqi authorities are working to remove the country from the arena of conflict, "while maintaining our principled position regarding the aggression taking place against Gaza and the Palestinian territories, because this is the root of the problem."
The Iraqi Prime Minister described the Zionist attack that targeted the Iranian consulate in Damascus at the beginning of this month as a clear violation and contrary to international law, which prompted Iran to respond. He said that Iraq made an effort to contain the situation.
Al-Sudani confirmed that he agreed with US President Joe Biden on the importance of stopping the escalation and not engaging in further mutual responses, because they affect the security and safety of the peoples of the region.
He stressed that the Palestinians are being subjected to a process of genocide in front of the world and the international community, which, along with its systems and laws, has failed to protect innocent civilians.
He added that the casualties of women and children are unacceptable, and it is the root of the problem, because once this war stops, the region will witness a breakthrough and stability, and he considered that ignoring the root of this problem means more repercussions and an expansion of the arena of conflict in a sensitive region of the world.
In a separate context, Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi confirmed that his forces support the country’s security and the countries of the region can rely on our military capabilities.

Raisi said in a televised statement: Our military forces are one of the important capabilities not only in the region but in the world.
He explained that our military operation against the Zionists overthrew his power and our response was thoughtful and precise, noting that our response was to inform Washington and the Zionist supporters that our armed forces are strong and ready to confront any threat.
The Iranian President stressed: “Any [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] move against us, even if it is simple, will face a strong and decisive response.”/End 25
