    Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Planning, receives the ambassador of the European Union, and they discuss the possibility of supporting the ministry's efforts in conducting the general population census

    The Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Planning, Professor Dr. Muhammad Ali Tamim, received today, Tuesday, the Ambassador of the European Union to Iraq, Ville Varyola, and his accompanying delegation.
    During the meeting, which was attended by the Director General of International Cooperation, Dr. Saher Abdulkadhim, they discussed prospects for joint cooperation between Iraq and the European Union, especially in the field of supporting the efforts of the Ministry of Planning, in conducting the general population and housing census to be implemented before the end of next year 2024.
    The Minister stressed that the cooperation with the European Union mission in Iraq was positive and contributed to the development of relations with the countries of the Union in various fields, expressing the desire to develop the level of this cooperation, and the possibility of benefiting from the capabilities and expertise of the European Union countries in providing infrastructure and basic requirements for the population census. , which represents a great economic, developmental and social importance for Iraq, pointing to overcoming the political challenges that were facing the implementation of this project, as well as addressing the financial aspect and providing financial allocations for its conduct.
    For his part, Fariola stressed the continued support of the European Union for the efforts of the Iraqi government, especially in the field of social protection, the implementation of the population census, and the continuation of the implementation of projects funded by grants provided by European Union countries.
    At the end of the meeting, the Minister presented the Ministry's Shield of Excellence to Mr. Fariolla, the European Union Ambassador, in appreciation of his efforts in supporting Iraq, on the occasion of the end of his duties in Baghdad.
