    Today, Friday, the Ministry of Planning identified the requirements for conducting the general population census and the required human capabilities, while it was suggested that an experimental census be conducted to test the technical and electronic capabilities.
    A spokesman for the Ministry of Planning, Abd al-Zahra al-Hindawi, said, "Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani chaired an important meeting of the Supreme Population Council, yesterday, Wednesday, during which the national document for updated population policies prepared by the Ministry of Planning in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund was approved."
    He added, "Al-Sudani stressed during the meeting the need to make maximum efforts to conduct the general population census and for all state institutions to cooperate to provide support and attribution to the Ministry of Planning in implementing the general population census, as it will be an important and developmental census that provides a comprehensive and complete database on the reality of life in Iraq, which It will contribute to drawing up sound development policies.
    And he continued, "The Prime Minister's directives during the meeting represent the beginning of the preparations for the general population census project, noting that" the census requires the implementation and completion of several important and essential stages, leading to the final population count. These requirements will be according to timelines and according to financial allocations
    . There are requirements that must be provided, including tablets, because the census will be carried out electronically and requires more than 130,000 tablets with special specifications that require contracting with international companies specialized in this field to supply and provide this large number of tablets, as well as enumerators on the use of these devices where there is No less than 130,000 enumerators of teachers and teachers who will carry out the census and will be trained to use the devices and mechanisms for filling out the census form and mechanisms for dealing with families.
    He pointed out that "there are intensive courses that enumerators undergo with specific timelines, in addition to the establishment of a national center specialized in data processing, as well as the processes of inventorying and numbering houses and facilities throughout Iraq, as well as counting the numbers of families in all governorates, and this requires timelines."
    He explained that "a pilot census must be conducted by selecting specific areas in each governorate to test the technical, human and electronic capabilities," noting that "the population census needs to complete electronic programs for the general census, which needs evaluation by specialized international companies."
    He pointed out that "the population census also needs to provide satellite images, maps and administrative units at the level of the governorate, district, district and village to be a basis for developing maps for the conduct of enumerators according to the geographical system that the enumerators will walk on to reach the role and families, as well as it needs to provide telephone coverage for all regions of Iraq as well as coverage The Internet allows data to be sent directly from the field to the center in order to ensure its speedy arrival.
    And he indicated that "there will be a new meeting of the High Commission for Population Census headed by the Deputy Prime Minister to set the basic and detailed lines of work, as well as the formation of an operations room that will continue its work, as well as different work teams and sectors in the financial, administrative, technical, electronic, legal, field work, media, etc. teams will also be formed Or committees in the governorates headed by governors that undertake the process of implementing plans for the population census.
