, Director of the Martyrs Foundation, Tariq Al-Mandalawi, confirmed that there are thousands of mass graves that will not be opened until this moment in Iraq.
Al-Mandalawi said, in a televised interview followed by Mawazine News, that “the Iraqi people of all sects and components were subjected to murder and genocide by the defunct Saddam regime, as the land of Iraq was saturated with the corpses of its citizens as a result of Baathist crime.”
He added, "There are thousands of young men from the Islamic Movement who were buried in mass graves between 1979 and 1983, noting that one of the teams of the Mass Graves Affairs Department opened many graves despite the lack of financial allocations."
He pointed out that "a mass grave was opened in Holy Karbala containing the remains of about 370 martyrs during the former regime, pointing out that there are thousands of mass graves in Iraq that have not been discovered yet."
