Economic researchers emphasize promoting the culture of electronic payment

Researchers in economic affairs stressed the importance of expanding the culture of electronic payment, and presenting its advantages and benefits to the public to a greater extent, due to the presence of groups that still prefer cash dealing.
Economic affairs researcher Imad Al-Muhammadawi told Al-Sabah: The country is currently moving towards an electronic payment system (automation) in most areas, as banks and concerned authorities have worked to deploy POS devices in many sales centers, to limit dealing in blocks. Large amounts of cash and the risks of theft, forgery and bribery.
He pointed out the necessity of eliminating the phenomenon of cash dealing in all aspects of the state and the private sector, due to the speed of performance and the ease of carrying and using payment cards, in addition to the security element that the system carries in terms of confidentiality of customer information and the preservation of public money through printing invoices, receipts and other privileges.
Al-Mohammadawi urged the importance of continuing to use other advanced banking methods on a large scale, including electronic wallets that allow their holders to pay over the phone and pay bills, as well as debit and prepaid cards, in addition to the importance of spreading the culture of electronic payment among segments of society, given the presence of segments that still prefer Cash dealing, and she faces difficulty in abandoning it due to her lack of familiarity with that culture.
For her part, economic affairs researcher Suhad Al-Shammari told Al-Sabah: The electronic payment system is one of the best systems in the world, as it is dealt with without the need to use cash blocks.
She explained that the most important features of the system are eliminating corruption and bribery and controlling the movement of funds, as well as ease of trading and raising cash deposit rates in banks.
Al-Shammari stressed the importance of converting all economic sectors in the country to the electronic payment system, in order to save time and effort.
On the same level, the government electronic communication team and the Pharmacists Syndicate agreed to activate electronic payment in pharmacies and drug stores.
Deputy Head of the Government Electronic Communication Team, Adnan Al-Arabi, chaired a meeting that included the Head of the Pharmacists Syndicate, the Director of the Rafidain Bank, and representatives of the Central Bank, the Ministry of Health, and a number of electronic payment companies, to discuss activating electronic payment in pharmacies, drug stores, and laboratories.
