The Parliamentary Services and Reconstruction Committee sees the government measures to provide residential complexes whose infrastructure has been planned as a new development to solve the housing crisis.
Committee member Madiha Al-Moussawi explained that “the coming days will witness a conference with companies to begin constructing residential complexes for which road plans have been completed, and they are part of the solution with complementary steps for Bismayah apartments and similar ones that exist in the rest of the governorates, with the state receiving a 20% portion of it inside Baghdad and 10%.” % for the governorates,” pointing out that “the investor was previously given lands inside Baghdad at high prices and sold them at ridiculous prices due to their distinct geographical location, which was the mistake of the Investment Authority, and we hope that construction operations will continue properly and at normal prices in which employees and citizens can buy housing units.”
Al-Moussawi added, in an interview with “Al-Sabah,” that “there are other problems that are considered challenges to the government in the roads and bridges sector, as a result of the overlap of powers between the governorate, the Ministry of Construction and Housing, and the Baghdad Municipality in the capital,” indicating that “there are three joint parties, including the Baghdad Municipality in 14 municipalities and 8 departments, while the governorate is responsible for the districts and districts, while the Ministry of Municipalities is responsible for roads, while the Baghdad Municipality has relinquished its responsibilities in some areas to the Ministry of Construction and Municipalities.
