Today, Saturday, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Ahmed Al-Asadi issued an invitation to all media institutions to register their journalists under the Social Security Law.
Al-Asadi said in a statement, “On the occasion of the 155th Iraqi Press Day, we extend our warmest congratulations and best blessings to all male and female journalists in our beloved Iraq. You are the firm pillars that build the edifice of free and responsible media, and you contribute your sincere efforts to conveying the facts and conveying the Iraqi voice to the world.”
He added, "On this glorious day, we remember with great pride the long and honorable journey of Iraqi journalism, and we highly value your sacrifices for the sake of freedom and justice."
He continued, "On this occasion, we call on all media institutions to register their journalists under the Social Security Law. Registration of journalists provides them with the necessary social protection and guarantees their rights and well-being, thus enhancing their ability to perform their duties in all safety and stability."
He continued: "We urge all media institutions to adhere to this national and humanitarian duty, and to provide a safe and sustainable work environment for journalism workers, in honor of their efforts and sacrifices in conveying the facts and defending freedom of expression."
He added: "Let us be together in protecting the rights of journalists and building a better future for the Iraqi media."
