Minister of Health to {Sabah}: Extensive medical plans to care for school students

As part of the plans prepared to provide the best medical and health care to students and pupils in the country with the start of the new school year, the Ministry of Health, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, has prepared intensive work programs to protect them from diseases and provide them with various treatments and care.
Health Minister Saleh Mahdi Al-Hasnawi said in a statement to Al-Sabah that his ministry has prepared a special plan for medical insurance at the beginning of the new school year, with the aim of providing a safe educational environment to preserve the health and safety of students in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, revealing that health personnel have completed the examination of more than 1,124,000 students who have applied to register in the first grade of primary school and kindergarten.
He added that the various examinations for the aforementioned segment include the commitment of their parents to medical examination of their children in health clinics through examination of vision, hearing and physical fitness inside schools, in addition to early detection of malnutrition diseases for the purpose of starting school, in addition to routine examination by dental examination.
Al-Hasnawi added that the medical teams will implement, within the plans they have prepared in this context, examining students whose numbers exceed six million and 633 thousand students from the second grade of primary school to the first grade of middle school, in addition to equipping the Ministry of Education with more than 2,000 free eyeglasses for students who suffer from poor eyesight.
He explained that his ministry is working on training more than seven thousand health coordinators from the educational staff in schools, while continuing to update the national strategy for school health, noting that his ministry is preparing in the same context to conduct the fall and spring campaigns by the medical and health cadres decided by the Department of Public Health according to the developments of the epidemiological reality, in addition to the routine schedule for the child, and working on monitoring and periodic follow-up to avoid the spread of any disease, especially the young age groups in the primary stages.
