    Information / Baghdad...
On Thursday, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Ahmed Al-Asadi, set the date for the implementation of the Social Security Law for Workers, which Parliament recently voted on, and while he revealed efforts to raise the minimum wage for workers in the private sector, he confirmed that penalties will be imposed on institutions that are not registered for their workers with insurance.
Al-Asadi said to official television and its follower, Al-Maalouma, that "the Social Security Law, which was recently enacted, is considered one of the most important laws for years, and it extends to a wide segment of Iraqi society," noting that "the law included in it all the articles that preserve the rights of workers, and it contains Privileges for workers in the private sector more than their counterparts in the public sector.
He added, "The most important amendments to the law are the state's contribution to the retirement arrests of workers in the private sector, and it also contributes to the arrests of the public sector." The government pays 15% of the retirement contributions, and the worker pays 5% as retirement contributions.
He pointed out that "the number of workers in the private sector reaches 6 million, 90% of whom are not registered," pointing out that "penalties will be imposed on institutions that do not register their workers with social security."
Al-Asadi continued, "The law will enter into force as soon as it is published in the Official Gazette," explaining that "the ministry will start from next week to set the necessary instructions to start implementing the law as soon as it is published."
Al-Asadi pointed out that "the minimum wage for workers according to the law is 350 thousand dinars per month, otherwise the employer will be subject to fines," stressing that "the ministry seeks to raise the minimum wage to 450 thousand dinars per month." ended 25 n
