    Economy News - Baghdad
Baghdad Provincial Council stressed the need to follow up on the work of unlicensed garages in the capital's areas, as well as to follow up on violations of instructions.
Committee member Nora Al-Jahishi said, "There are garages in different areas in Baghdad that are not licensed, and some of them are actually exploiting public squares and streets themselves and turning them into garages, and they take money from citizens to park their cars without any right, and this requires intervention by the Baghdad Operations Command as well as the inspection teams of the Capital Municipality."
Al-Jahishi added, "There are garages that have licenses and approvals, but they do not adhere to the instructions regarding parking prices and take more money than the official price, especially in the Al-Harthiya area. There are many complaints that reach us from citizens regarding this."
The member of the Baghdad Provincial Council revealed that she had submitted “official letters and requests to the relevant authorities to follow up on the work of unofficial and unlicensed garages, some of which belong to influential parties and figures, and we will follow up on this file to prevent the exploitation of public lands and streets for the purpose of illegal gain.”
It is noteworthy that the Baghdad Operations Command has launched a campaign since yesterday to close garages and parking lots that violate instructions and controls or are unofficial and unlicensed and to arrest those working in them in various areas of the capital.
