Resolution: Most Sunni blocs demanded amending the paragraphs of the general amnesty law

The spokesman for the National Decisive Alliance, Salah Al-Kubaisi, confirmed that most Sunni blocs demanded amending the paragraphs of the general amnesty law to allow for the resumption of investigation procedures with convicts.
Al-Kubaisi said, “The political agreement that was concluded at the beginning of the formation of the government with the State Administration Coalition included proceeding with the general amnesty law and amending it within the House of Representatives.”
He added, "Most Sunni blocs demanded amending the paragraphs of the general amnesty law, to allow for the resumption of investigation procedures with convicts."
The spokesman for the National Decisive Alliance pointed out that, “The law could have been decided when Mohammed al-Halbousi was the Speaker of Parliament, but al-Halbousi did not make any effort towards the law, and there was no serious intention on the part of some political blocs towards deciding the law.”
He pointed out that "the framework forces aimed to push the formation of the government, while the other party, represented by the Sunni majority (referring to Halbousi's party), was busy dividing the spoils and gains," ruling out "amending the law after the parliament seat was emptied of the Sunni component."
The government program, according to Sunni MPs, includes issuing a general amnesty law, security checks in their governorates, and cancelling or suspending the work of bodies that were a source of concern and crisis for them.
Other political forces warn against including “terrorists and those accused of serious crimes” in the new draft of the general amnesty law.
