The Ministry of Interior revealed, on Saturday, a set of measures to regulate the entry of foreign workers into Iraq. The ministry’s spokesman, Brigadier General Muqdad Miri, said, “The Minister of Interior chaired a meeting earlier, in the presence of the Ministers of Labor, Migration and Displacement, the Head of the National Intelligence Service, and the Director of the General Directorate of Nationality, to form a committee for the purpose of following up on the foreign workers’ file.”
He added, "The committee will issue recommendations soon and we will announce this in detail, all of which are related to following up on the process of foreign workers and expatriates entering Iraq and following up on the file of entry or preventing the entry of any expatriate into Iraq unless it is within the legal frameworks and other procedures that we will mention later." Miri continued, "There is an emphasis on entry into the country being in accordance with official procedures. As for other plans that address the file of workers entering informally or who enter officially and fail to leave or otherwise, a committee has been formed for this purpose by the Ministry of Interior, the National Intelligence Service, the National Security Service and other joint agencies, which carry out daily, weekly and quarterly campaigns." He stressed that "the Interior Intelligence will follow up and monitor this file with complete accuracy and accordingly take legal measures against any expatriate who violates the instructions, conditions and controls of residence, entry and exit from Iraq."
