    The Ministerial Council for Social Services approved the national energy support policy and voted on two documents to enhance environmental measures.
    The Cabinet Secretariat stated, in a statement received by "Al-Eqtisad News", that "the Ministerial Council for Social Services held its eighth regular session for the year 2024 in the General Secretariat of the Cabinet building, headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, Mohammed Ali Tamim."
    She added, "The Council voted on several topics on the agenda, including: approving the "National Policy for Energy Support and Emissions Reduction" with its objectives and executive plans for the next six years, given its impact on energy and environmental sustainability and contribution to confronting climate change, with the Government Coordination and Citizens Affairs Department at the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers and the Federal Financial Audit Bureau to study the annual achievement reports to measure the extent of the commitment of all ministries, government institutions and governorates to implementing the requirements of the aforementioned policy plans and objectives, and referring them to the Council of Ministers."
    She added: "The Ministerial Council also agreed to "grant Kirkuk Governorate the authority to contract with companies specialized in the field of cleaning for a period of three years within the governorate's budget funded from its annual budget / cleaning section," provided that the governorate bears responsibility for the health and safety of the contracting procedures."
    The Council approved the “recommendation of the minutes of the meeting of the team formed pursuant to paragraph (second) of the Ministerial Council for Social Services Resolution No. 23036, concerned with “studying the two documents of the Technology Needs Assessment (TNA) and the Technology Action Plan (TAP)”, and referring it to the Council of Ministers, taking into account what was stated in the first and second axis of the minutes and the tables attached to it, and the Ministry of Environment shall undertake the implementation of the recommendation contained in paragraph (1) in coordination between it and the relevant sectoral bodies, and the translation of the two aforementioned documents into a legal form from the allocations of the Environmental Protection and Improvement Fund in the Ministry, and sending them to the donor in accordance with the agreements and laws in force.”
    The Council also voted to "approve the minutes of the meeting of the Central Review Committee and ratify the 58th referral, in its sixteenth session held on 08/20/2024, which included referring the project of invitation No. 4 of 2024 (Afak Sewerage Project - Diwaniyah Governorate) to the coalition of concerned companies, and the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Public Municipalities bears responsibility for the safety and accuracy of the contractual procedures and the efficiency of the company to which the project is referred in accordance with the laws, instructions and regulations in force, based on the powers specified in paragraph (1) of Cabinet Resolution No. 372 of 2011."
    The Council also approved the “controls and mechanisms for the work of offices and companies renting machinery and equipment” prepared by the committee formed pursuant to Ministerial Council for Social Services Resolution No. 24013, and the Ministry of Planning will take the necessary measures to implement this in coordination with the relevant authorities.”
