    Baghdad Today - Anbar
An informed source revealed, today, Sunday (September 8, 2024), a sudden security tightening at the largest US forces base in Iraq.
The source said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "The American forces stationed in the largest part of the Ain al-Assad base in the west of the country took a series of strict security measures suddenly at dawn today that lasted for several hours with aircraft flying before the situation returned to normal."
He added that "it is not known whether the tightening was part of a military maneuver or training, or whether it received information about the possibility of being directly targeted by Iraqi factions that have been launching missile strikes and drone attacks in recent months," noting that "the base has witnessed noticeable helicopter flights in recent weeks through paths that connect it to other bases in Syria, which is the closest to it."
Informed sources revealed on Friday (August 16, 2024) that the Ain al-Assad base in western Iraq is conducting unannounced training on confronting a comprehensive attack with missiles and drones.
The sources told Baghdad Today, "Ain al-Assad base in western Iraq, in the most important parts of which American forces are deployed, has been conducting a series of training exercises for days, in an unannounced manner, on how to launch a comprehensive attack with missiles and drones."
She added that "the training comes as a precautionary measure, especially since its defenses have failed more than once to confront missiles and drones launched by Iraqi factions, which in the last attack led to the injury of five to seven soldiers, although only two missiles were launched out of 10 that were defused by Iraqi forces."
The sources indicated that "the American forces in Ain al-Assad still believe that they may be exposed to a wide and comprehensive attack, and this explains the intensity of the air strikes between them and other bases in Syria, amid reports of bringing in new air defense systems capable of more effectively confronting drones and missiles."
