Government prepares to launch first digital knowledge platform

The government is preparing to launch the "Iraqi Knowledge Gateway" initiative in the coming few weeks after agreeing with six of the largest international publishing houses to provide the initiative with the largest number of their books and publications.
Dr. Aref Al-Saadi, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Chairman of the "Iraqi Knowledge Gateway" Initiative Committee, told Al-Sabah: "This initiative is the first of its kind in the history of Iraq, as the committee consists of the Ministries of Education, Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, represented by the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage, and the Earthlink Company, which has undertaken the implementation of this project."
He added that "this portal is a very important initiative to be a platform that brings together research, studies, books, curricula, manuscripts and everything related to Iraqi culture, education and knowledge, by importing books through this portal for Iraqis," noting "the agreement with six of the largest international publishing houses to provide us with a large number of their books." Al-Saadi continued, "These houses have reached an understanding with Iraqi publishing houses and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to have all theses and dissertations available on this portal for researchers to benefit from."
He pointed out that "this project, which lasted for about 14 months, was presented to Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, who was very impressed with it, and this initiative will be launched in a large national ceremony in the coming few weeks."
