    Economy News - Baghdad
Minister of Industry and Minerals, Khaled Al-Batal, announced today, Tuesday, that there is only one profitable government company out of 28 companies, while confirming that Al-Sudani heads a committee to restructure public companies.
Batal said during the World Investor Day conference, which was attended by the correspondent of "Al-Eqtisad News": "We have 28 companies and there is no profitable company except for one, which is Southern Cement," noting that "the Prime Minister heads a committee to restructure public companies."
He added: "I do not support the privatization of public companies because it is a waste of public money," adding: "We have not yet been able to legislate a law on partnership between the public and private sectors."
Batal said: “No employee can be laid off if it becomes a partnership between the public and private sectors,” stressing: “We have sought the help of an international company to restructure the companies.”
