    Alnoor News / Baghdad
The Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Hassan Nazim, stressed, on Wednesday, the endeavor to convert tourism companies into profitable ones.
A statement of the ministry, which "Al-Nour News" received a copy of, stated that “The Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Hassan Nazim, visited the Habbaniyah Tourist City to see the latest developments in the maintenance and rehabilitation of all its facilities. And the end of liberation and the beginning of the reconstruction of the tourist city of Habbaniyah.
The statement added, "The minister met with the board of directors of the tourist city and listened to the city's investor's explanation about the nature of upcoming projects and the nature of the obstacles that the rehabilitation and development process faced due to the stopping of the Corona pandemic."
Regarding the financial conditions of the city of Habbaniyah, the minister said, according to the statement, “We have done our duty to recover the salaries of the tourist city’s employees after continuous meetings with the concerned committees and the Ministry of Finance, and we got a promise to release the salaries through the ministry and not through the Tourism Authority, which feels unfair to take away the tourist city from them, and I As a minister, I feel the need for the independence of some tourism facilities to function better.
The minister stated that "there will be a tourism conference in Saudi Arabia for the World Tourism Organization to discuss the opening of repeated closures next June to start the resumption of tourism activity after the start of the introduction of the vaccine."
He added, "We hope that this city will be a model for profitable tourism companies. Most of our tourism companies have corruption cases and also lose. Currently, the Basra Sheraton Hotel, the largest hotel in the south of the country, has been closed due to corruption cases that clamp its noses, and the ministry will not back down from combating covered corruption."
He said, “I hope to hear in the coming days, and after the end of the Corona pandemic, that this city starts receiving its salaries from its production after distinguished maintenance operations and great efforts made, and this is not a miracle, all that is required is integrity. Winner of honor and integrity ”.
The minister listened to "an explanation by the city administrators who confirmed that if the annual revenue reached two million and 474 thousand dollars, the city would be among the profitable companies."
The statement pointed out that “he was briefed on the expansion plans, which will include the investor’s plan to establish two restaurants, one of which is a floating restaurant, in addition to the maintenance of the hotel, 305 rooms and 10 suites, a major survey, 375 chalets, a tourist house, the main swimming pools, a water city, a water adventure city, and the expansion of the city of games, roads, parks and the marina, which includes 4 ferries and 8 Boats with a qualification period of 30 months.
The minister recommended, according to the statement, to “take care of people with special needs and the handicapped,” indicating, “We have more than 3 million people with disabilities, who must be covered by recreational services and it is necessary to facilitate their visits to all tourist and entertainment places in the city.”
