Minister of Health to {Sabah}: 450 contracts concluded to supply cancer and heart treatment drugs

The Ministry of Health has concluded 450 contracts with local and foreign companies to provide cancer drugs, as well as those for heart diseases and surgery.
Minister of Health Dr. Saleh Mahdi Al-Hasnawi told Al-Sabah: The ministry focused during its contracts on national governmental and private factories to supply them with medicines and medical supplies, including the Samarra Pharmaceutical Factory, Pioneer, Amedica, Akai, Al-Furat, Al-Mansour, and Al-Majra for the manufacture of surgical sutures, the National Health, and the Iraqi Factory for Pharmaceutical Materials, which specializes in the manufacture of cancer drugs and blood diseases in the country that provides its pharmaceutical production to more than five thousand patients annually.
He added that there are future plans to conclude agreements and partnerships with international and Arab factories to transfer drug manufacturing technology.
He pointed out that many contracts were concluded with local and foreign companies during the current year, the most important of which are 240 contracts with local and international companies to provide cancer drugs and 240 other contracts to supply drugs and medical supplies for heart diseases and surgery. Contracts were also signed with 40 government and private factories. Al-Hasnawi explained that no drug is released unless it meets specifications and is suitable for human use, and the issuing party bears responsibility for this, in addition to issuing import licenses for drugs. He stressed the interest of the National Center for Drug Control in examining drugs and adhering to placing the price sticker and fixing the manufacturing and expiration date on the imported material.
