Minister of Resources to Al-Sabah: Activating a memorandum of understanding with Egypt to combat desertification

Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Diab Abdullah, announced the activation of a memorandum of understanding on combating desertification and using modern irrigation methods with the Egyptian side.
The minister stated in a statement to "Al-Sabah" on the sidelines of his participation in the activities of Cairo Water Week, that he "met with his Egyptian counterpart, Hani Sweilem, and discussed cooperation in water resources management and ways to enhance it between the two countries and exchange expertise and use of modern technologies and their applications in the field of water resources use and management," adding, "We also discussed activating the memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides, which includes several important areas such as modern irrigation, water treatment and reuse, combating desertification, and dealing with common environmental challenges."
Abdullah added, "We agreed on the importance of continuing cooperation to confront the increasing challenges in the field of water, which affect both countries."
