    The Secretary of the Permanent National Committee for the Confinement and Regulation of Arms said:[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]The Ministry’s Major General Mansour Ali Sultan said, “The Ministry, within the objectives of the national policy to restrict and regulate weapons in the hands of[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]that[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]At the beginning of this year, it is currently working on reducing the exceptions granted for carrying weapons by specifying the categories covered by it.



    He added that "the project to restrict weapons to the private sector"[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]It was in three stages, the first of which includes launching the application and purchasing medium weapons, while the second stage includes inspection and verification of weapons licenses for citizens, and will start at the beginning of the year (2025) and continue for two years, while the third stage includes coding and tattooing weapons.

    Sultan explained that "the aim of these new procedures is to reduce the manifestations of armament within society and cities, which have been widespread in recent years, and have had several negative repercussions, including the rise of (tribal attacks) and the increase in the number of those firing bullets on all occasions," according to the government newspaper Al-Sabah.

    The number of categories included in carrying weapons was 12 categories, before the Minister of Interior added 4 new categories in March of last year 2023, which are owners of salary outlets, goldsmiths, contractors and merchants.

    The categories allowed to carry weapons include 16 categories, including representatives, undersecretaries of ministries, heads of agencies, judicial investigators, notaries, university professors, newspaper editors-in-chief, journalists, directors of satellite channels, media professionals, lawyers, and employees of the High Commission Independent elections, protections, employees of the three presidencies, money changers, workers in the offices of religious authorities, and holy shrines.
