Labor prepares to launch the National Plan for People with Disabilities for the years 2025-2027

The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs is working on launching the National Plan for People with Disabilities for the years 2025-2027, while working on rehabilitating its shelters.
The head of the Disability and Special Needs Rights Commission at the ministry, Dhikra Abdul Rahim, told Al-Sabah: The plan aims to establish a comprehensive policy framework that ensures respect for the rights of people with disabilities and promotes an inclusive environment for equitable access to education, health care, social protection, and empowerment opportunities, improving their access to public places and transportation, and full participation in economic, social and cultural life, and addressing discriminatory barriers, as all state ministries will participate, each according to its specialization and tasks, in providing services to people with disabilities and special needs. She
pointed out the importance of unifying goals and employing them under one umbrella, as the main goal is to serve people with disabilities and special needs, leading to their rehabilitation and integration into society.
She added that the national plan includes attention to the elderly and orphans to support, empower and guarantee their rights, and that it will be implemented in steps based on well-studied plans for the coming years in cooperation with the relevant ministries, noting that this plan will be implemented in cooperation with UNICEF and the Cambridge Education Team.
Abdul Rahim explained that work is ongoing to update educational programs in cooperation with the Ministry of Education in the institutes and shelters affiliated with it, in conjunction with the implementation of a broad campaign to rehabilitate these homes, nurseries and institutes that were returned to the Authority after their severance from the governorates, as seven committees were formed to follow up on the rehabilitation and development steps, noting that the Authority is committed to implementing the plan by unifying the goals and making them feasible and applicable on the ground
