    Information/Baghdad…
Member of the Parliamentary Security Committee, MP Yasser Iskandar, confirmed on Thursday the start of the third phase of the strategy to localize the arms industry in Iraq.
Iskandar said in an interview with Al-Maalouma, "Relying on the domestic arms industry is an essential and strategic matter in order to achieve three important goals, the most prominent of which are reducing import costs, creating flexibility in securing the needs of the security establishment, and the possibility of moving to more advanced stages in the defensive arms industry."
He added, "The country has actually moved to the third stage of weapons localization within a strategic vision that takes into consideration the necessary needs of the military institution, whether from light weapons to support."
He pointed out that "Iraq is continuing to achieve qualitative leaps in securing a good percentage of the military establishment's needs of various types of weapons and ammunition, reaching the equipment and mechanisms that will provide greater flexibility in carrying out duties."
It is noteworthy that Iraq has succeeded in restoring several factories to produce equipment, some weapons and ammunition, and even military vehicles. End 25 F
