Today, Sunday (October 27, 2024), the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, issued a set of directives regarding the work of checkpoints in Baghdad and the governorates.
The Ministry of Interior stated in a statement received by "Baghdad Today" that "its Minister, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, directed that inspection checkpoints, especially on holidays, be on the sides of the road and not to block the streets in front of citizens in Baghdad and the governorates."
She added, "The Minister directed that in the event of a security necessity for a search operation or setting up a checkpoint inside a street, more than one side should be opened, allowing citizens' vehicles to pass smoothly and without creating traffic jams."
The ministry added that "Al-Shammari stressed the need to follow up on this directive by leaders, commanders, and specialized departments, and to hold accountable those who are negligent in this regard."
