On Sunday, Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari directed that inspection checkpoints, especially on holidays, be on the sides of the road and not to block the streets in front of citizens in Baghdad and the governorates.
Al-Shammari said in a statement received by Al-Maalouma Agency, "In the event of a security necessity for a search operation or setting up a checkpoint inside one of the streets, more than one side should be opened in a way that allows citizens' vehicles to pass smoothly and without creating traffic jams."
Al-Shammari stressed the need to "follow up on this directive by leaders, commanders, and specialized departments, and hold those who fail to do so accountable." End/25
