The census and numbering operations began early last September, as part of the Ministry of Planning’s procedures that will continue for two months, in preparation for implementing the general population and housing census.

The ministry’s media spokesman, Abdul Zahra Al-Hindawi, said that his ministry is working according to the plans, programs and objectives set in the timetables, especially the completion of 99 percent of the numbering and census in 15 governorates, in preparation for conducting the general population and housing census on the 20th of next month.

He added that some governorates have completed the numbering and inventory processes by 100 percent and have completely closed this file, pointing out that the governorates of the region, namely:[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Sulaymaniyah and Dohuk started the numbering and enumeration process late, and the completion rate there reached 85 percent.

The numbering and enumeration processes had started in the region's governorates on October 1.

Al-Hindawi explained that his ministry had completed most of the procedures and requirements represented by the data center, the communications center, and 120,000 tablets, in addition to establishing the operations room, noting that there are logistical and technical requirements that will be completed in the coming few days according to the planned and drawn schedules.

He stressed that his ministry is close to completing the training of 80,000 employees from various ministries and state institutions, in addition to completing the training of 40,000 previous ones, so that the total number becomes 120,000 field researchers distributed across the governorates to complete the numbering and enumeration processes. They will be ready to conduct the general population and housing census on November 20 and 21, according to the official Al-Sabah newspaper.

The General Authority for Statistics and Geographic Information Systems at the Ministry of Planning had previously reported that the numbering and enumeration processes are the main stage of the general census, whereby buildings, residences and facilities will be numbered, with initial information taken about the number of family members and the distribution of families according to males and females, to be important information on which the census can be based.
