Census: Numbering operations to begin early next September

The process of packing, enumeration and numbering will begin early next September in preparation for implementing the general population and housing census on November 20, while the Ministry of Planning will continue to receive applications to work in it until August 14. The Executive Director of the Census at the Statistics and Geographic Information Systems Authority at the Ministry of Planning, Ali Al-Saadi, told Al-Sabah: The most important step in implementing the census is the employee training process, which is still ongoing until now. About 8,000 people have been trained as store managers throughout Iraq, and this process will continue for 10 days. He pointed out that the second phase of training 16,000 people to be assistants to store managers will begin, leading to the completion of training 40,000 people, noting that store managers and their assistants will implement the packing, enumeration and numbering processes for buildings, which will take place early next September and will continue for two months. Al-Saadi said that after the completion of this process, 80 thousand people will be trained, so that the total number will be 120 thousand trainees to carry out the process of implementing the general census on the 20th of next November in all of Iraq’s governorates, including the Kurdistan Region, stressing that the Prime Minister has overcome all the difficulties and obstacles that may face the general census of population and housing.
He added that the census is not only the task of the Ministry of Planning, but also of all government agencies, including ministries, governorates, their councils, civil organizations, media, and citizens. We have found cooperation from everyone to make it a success, calling for cooperation with research teams in entering homes and providing real data that can provide them with schools, hospitals, or services for them and their children in the future. Al-Saadi praised the role of the United Nations, especially the United Nations Population Fund, in providing expertise, advice, and answering all questions received from the General Authority for Statistics and Geographic Information Systems, which was assigned the task of conducting the census. For its part, the Ministry of Planning continues to receive applications to work in the general population census until August 14th.
