Putin 'forced Obama's hand' on ISIS: Russia hailed for making Jihadi John death 'possible'

BRITISH butcher Jihadi John could not have been targeted WITHOUT Russia strongman Vladimir Putin stepping in and ramping up the pressure against Islamic State (ISIS), according to political commentators around the world.

Putin has been hailed a "hero" after the British ISIS militant Mohammed Emwzi, AKA Jihadi John, was reportedly killed in a US drone strike alongside three other most wanted fighters.

Although American military are responsible for the savage fighter’s "evisceration" in a "clean hit", critics claim the US only acted because of the success of Putin's rampant bombing campaign in Syria, which has wiped out hundreds of depraved jihadis.

Tony Brenton, former British ambassador for Russia, said Russia's successful bombing crusade left the US feeling "upset".

Speaking of the feeling in Moscow today, he said: "Russia will welcome the killing if a extremist ISIS person because they are against Islamism in all its forms.

"They don't like to see huge American successes and in that sense they will be less comfortable.

"Since their public line is we, Russia and America and the West need to be working together on this, their public will be one of welcoming."

"I was in Washington a few days ago and they are undoubtedly feeling pretty upset that there incompetence has been demonstrated by the Russians coming in as they have.

"American policy has gone wrong in a lot of ways and their original training programme didn't work and their missions on the ground have visibly not been very effective.

"So in public terms they were looking for successes and that is partly for the fact that the Russians are doing so well on the ground.

"So that may well have led them to look out for a very visible target and go for him."Many have taken to Twitter to denounce President Barack Obama, claiming Putin's bombing blitz forced the White House's hand.

One user wrote: "Did the US take out Jihadi John rather than let Putin get to him 1st ??”

Another said: "Remember PUTIN is the hero."

An American Twitter user added: "Not to be embarrassed, the U.S. had to kill Jihadi John before Putin did. Which means they could have gotten him long ago if they tried."

And another said: "Call me a cynic, but Putin declares he will get Jihadi John, & immediately we get him?So could we have done this a long time ago?"

Another tweeted: "Putin makes a fool of Obama and USA, so Jihadi John gets pulled out of the bag of tricks."

Moscow will today be celebrating as ISIS looks to be on the brink after Jihadi John - top of the Russian hitlist and face of the twisted militant group - was obliterated.

The Pentagon said he was struck as he left a building in the depraved terror group's stronghold of Raqqa.

His death has not yet been confirmed but the White House said a well-known British jihadi’s body is currently in a hospital.

Emwazi, a former University of Westminster student, has been the subject of a massive manhunt for more than a year, after first appearing in an execution video in August last year.

The notorious jihadi carried out a number of beheadings of Western hostages in Syria and was top of the British Government’s ‘kill list’ - joining up to a dozen of UK radicals targeted by drone strikes.

The Kremlin was forced to step up a gear in its bombing crusade in Syria after ISIS claimed responsibility for bringing down the Russian plane over Sinai killing all 224 people on board.

The latest criticism of the US is likely to cause tensions in an already strained relationship between Russia and the White House.

Pressure escalated when Russia entered the war in Syria to take on ISIS forces, with America insisting Putin was merely attempting to prop up the country's under-fire leader Bashar al-Assad.

However, an Express.co.uk poll revealed the Russian crusade in Syria has the support of more than two in every three Britons.

More than 27,000 people voted in the poll with 71 per cent saying they "support Vladimir Putin's bombing campaign in Syria".
