    The International Monetary Fund (IMF) announced that it has reached an agreement with Egypt under which it will receive a new tranche of $ 2 billion in loans from the fund to Cairo.
    "This agreement must be subject to the approval of the management committee," IFC said in a statement.
    If the IMF Management Committee approves this new tranche, the total amount the IMF has provided to Egypt will amount to $ 8 billion so far, under a large $ 12 billion aid package announced in November 2016.
    "Egypt has begun reaping the fruits of its ambitious economic reform program that was politically difficult," said Supir Lal, who led the IMF delegation in the country. "Reforms were necessary to stabilize the economy and lay the foundations for strong and sustainable growth that would improve the living standards of all Egyptians."
    The Fund also noted that the Government was continuing to implement its structural reforms aimed at modernizing the economy and benefiting from the growing population.
    "These reforms will contribute to attracting private investment, which is necessary to accelerate growth for many," Lal said.
    In return for the international aid plan, the Egyptian government undertook radical reforms
