Australian Brenton Tarant, the Australian, executed a terrorist attack on Christchurch's lawyers in New Zealand on Saturday before a city court where he was charged with murder.

The former fitness coach, a handcuffed and wearing a white T-shirt worn by detainees, heard the charge against him without any remorse, or demanded his release on bail.

Police said he was "likely to face other charges."

The first session was held amid heightened security, with calls to kill Tarrant without trial, while a local newspaper reported that someone tried to sneak into the courtroom with a knife to stab the accused.

The incinerator will remain in jail until his appearance before the court on April 5. New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardirn, who has previously described the crime as a terrorist act, has proposed that Tarant face further charges as well as the murder.

Tarant attacked the mosques on Friday, killing 50 people and wounding dozens, on a day that Ardern considered "the darkest days" of New Zealand in its history.
