    The Governor of Basra Majed Nasraoui, theallocation of an area of 400 acres to create afree trade zone with the Iranian province ofKhuzestan, stressing the project need to enact a law by the Iraqi Council of Representatives. 

    The governor of Basra during a joint news conference, said that "a delegation of theIslamic Republic of Iran arrived in Basra, during the meeting with the delegation have been talking about the project of establishing a free trade zone between Khuzestan and Basra details of an extension of the agreement twinning and memoranda ofunderstanding between the two provinces , " noting that " the local government in Basra has Free allocation of 400 acres of the area that will have positive consequences for the two countries. " 
    Nasraoui and pointed out that "a delegation of local government in Basra will travel next week to the Iranian province of Khuzestan to put the final technical touches on the project, and then we will be heading to thefederal government and the House of Representatives to enact a law that regulates the procedures and determines the controls work in the free zone," adding , " the Free Zone will be performed by investment, and will create many job opportunities for the people of Basra as it will contain the factories, warehouses and commercial offices." 
    For his part, the free zones in the Iranian province of Khuzestan chairman Ismail Zamani said during theconference that "our presence came to follow up on the establishment of the free zone, and there isconsensus on all the points that we have made, and we hope that these things occur in the near future , " explaining that " the Iranian free zones Khuzestan is fully prepared to cooperate with Basra in this area. " 
    According to the Iranian consul in Basra Ahmed Syahboh the "meeting had been successful, which is to expand economic and trade cooperation between Khuzestan and Basra," adding that "there is coordination to enhance the status of cooperation." 
    For his part, Director General of the free zones in Iraq Munther Abdel Amir said during a conference held in the office of the province of Basra " The initial agreement was reached on the establishment of the free zone to activate trade exchange and consolidation of economic relations between the two countries , " adding that " the initial steps have been agreed upon, and we hope the project will soon see the light. " 
    The province of Basra containing the international airport and five commercial ports and implementers border crossings onshore, one port Safwan with Kuwait, and the second is the Shalamcheh port , which is located within the administrative border to spend the Shatt al - Arab, and go through the day hundreds of trucks loaded with various types of imported goods, also passes through day hundreds of Iraqis and Iranians travelers. 
    He said Iran 's commercial attache in Iraq, Reza Zadeh, " The bilateral trade volume of 13 billion dollars ayear." 
    This came during his speech at the joint meeting of the Council of dialogue and exchange of views with economists and activists as well as the Council of the dialogue of the government with the private sector in Knbdos Golestan province , northeastern Iran. 
    Zadeh said in his speech, that " the bilateral trade volume of 13 billion dollars a year, it comes with 6 billion and $ 200 million in exports of non - oil commodities Iranian." 
    Reza Zadeh explained that "the majority of goods exported to Iraq are value-added , " noting that "Iran 'sexports to Iraq have multiplied 17 times over the last decade." 
    The Iranian official pointed out that " a noticeable chunk of Iran 's exports to Iraq include technical and engineering services, automotive , food and dairy." 
    He noted Iran 's commercial attache in Baghdad to the tourist side of the province of Golestan, said, " Theprovince of Golestan could pose along with the provinces of Khuzestan and Khorasan Razavi Iraqis destination for tourists and could be even direct flights to it from Iraq."
