The Office of Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced on Sunday the continuation of the government's efforts to reform the Iraqi economy, diversify and diversify national income sources and revitalize its main sectors, foremost of which is the agricultural sector.
Saad al-Hadithi, spokesman for the prime minister's office, said: "The cabinet approved the plan to market the wheat crop for 2017 and distributed the dues of farmers and farmers for the current season and prepare a comprehensive plan of action including non-accumulation of crop carriers through the organization of schedules of delivery according to harvest times in their regions.
The Cabinet also directed the Ministry of Finance, according to the modern "to release the amount of five hundred billion dinars per month from April until August 2017 to pay the dues of marketers to allocate 10% of these amounts to the Ministry of Agriculture to pay the farmers' dues to wheat and barley seeds" .
In order to provide all necessary forms of support to stimulate partnership with the private sector in the field of agricultural investment, job creation and progress in achieving national food security and self-sufficiency in basic crops, the Council decided to reallocate the amounts recovered from farmers Within the projects of the agricultural initiative received from the farmers for the years 2014, 2016, 2016, amounting to 198 billion dinars to be allocated exclusively for agricultural initiative projects of the Agricultural Bank.
The Council also stressed that "the Ministry of Finance to form a committee of audit of the relevant authorities with the officials of the Agricultural Cooperative Bank to audit the amounts disbursed in terms of the development of standards include control of the amounts planned to ensure the benefit of the largest possible number of farmers and ensure the disbursement according to the correct contexts Believes in their contribution to the revitalization of the agricultural sector and the expansion of work in it. "
The Cabinet approved the allocation of nine billion dinars from the reserves of the emergency reserve for the year 2017 to the General Company for Grain Trade in the Ministry of Commerce for the purpose of completing two projects (the Karbala silo and Sailo Shatra metal).
In the same context, the Council of Ministers approved the formation of the Supreme National Water Committee headed by Prime Minister Dr. Haidar Al-Abadi and the membership of the relevant ministries and the relevant sectoral bodies to assume the task of overseeing the implementation of the water strategy and public policies related to the equitable distribution of water inside Iraq. And to take the necessary decisions to protect water resources from waste and pollution and follow up the emergency plan for water.
At the same level, the support of the agricultural sector is of great importance to the government program which is based on restructuring the economy and increasing the share of this sector in the Iraqi national product. The Council of Ministers has agreed to "reduce the electricity tariff for the agricultural sector in addition to the industrial and commercial sectors."
Within the framework of the same governmental orientation, the Council of Ministers directed "the disbursement of 30 billion dinars for the prevention of agricultural, veterinary and fertilizer in the Ministry of Agriculture to provide fertilizer to farmers and the provision of agricultural pesticides necessary for crop protection in addition to ensuring the necessary vaccines and assets for the protection of livestock and poultry."
