Arab and international   Tuesday July 18, 2017

He said Minister of State for Qatar's defense, Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Attiyah, said that the State of Qatar may resort to the International Court of Justice; to obtain compensation for damages incurred because of the blockade imposed since last June 5.

Al-Attiyah said in an interview seen by the "Sky Press," that the State of Qatar is facing the same situation faced by Nicaragua in the eighties of the last century, when it was forced to resort to the International Court of Justice, and ultimately succeeded in obtaining full compensation for what happened. According to Qatar News Agency "Qena".

In the same context, the Minister of Economy and Trade, Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, said his country "will take all the necessary legal procedures and resort to international and regional organizations and the courts; to prosecute the siege states."

This came during a meeting with the Minister of Economy and Trade, Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, with a group of lawyers specialists, and a number of heads of international economic and trade organizations in Geneva Switzerland, according to a ministry statement.

The statement also pointed out that the Qatari and foreign companies operating in the country will be "the prosecution of the siege states, and claim with compensation for the losses incurred."

The statement did not specify the date or action litigation mechanism, as well as courts Stnzerha, or the value of the compensation required.

The ministry said it had contracted with a specialized legal office in the World Trade Organization in Geneva issues; to study the illegal measures taken by the countries of the blockade against Qatar.

According to the statement, he met with Al-Thani, Director General of the World Trade Organization Roberto Azafedo, and President of the World Economic Forum Klaus Schwab, the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization Francis Gurry.

The minister discussed the "crisis triggered by the blockade against the countries of the State of Qatar, and the resulting arbitrary measures, such as prohibiting travel, border closures and areas of air, sea and land ports."

The minister added, according to the statement, that these "States are required to compensate the Qatari private sector losses, incurred, estimated huge sums of money (unspecified)", and pointed out that "non-Qatari companies operating in the State of Qatar will sue the blockade countries claim with compensation for losses incurred. "

The minister explained that "procedures are incompatible with the principles and provisions of the WTO agreements," as well as "violation of intellectual property rights, and the Convention on Trade Facilitation."

He noted Al-Thani that these countries "closed all land sea and air outlets and ports leading to the State of Qatar, and banned the Qatari aircraft passing through its airspace."

He explained that it was prevented banks and financial companies from doing business in Qatari Riyals, and to prevent the Qatari businessmen and companies from disposing of their property and their goods in warehouses and free zones in these countries.

Qatari minister also accused the blockade countries put restrictions on Qatari investments, including the closure of Qatari companies working in it, and the expulsion based on management, and to prevent Qatari investors from disposing of their property.

On June 5 last, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain and Egypt severed ties with Qatar, under the pretext of "support for terrorism", which was denied Doha, saying that it is facing a "campaign of slander and lies."
