[ltr]WASHINGTON (Reuters) - US President Donald Trump will not announce a decision on whether he will again postpone the transfer of the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem despite a deadline to do so, a White House spokesman said Tuesday.[/ltr]
[ltr]"A declaration on the resolution will be issued in the coming days," spokesman Hogan Giddley told reporters aboard the presidential plane as Trump returned from a visit to Utah.[/ltr]
[ltr]Trump was due to decide whether to sign an extraordinary measure barring the transfer of the embassy from Tel Aviv for another six months, as all US presidents have done since Congress passed a law on the issue in 1995.[/ltr]
[ltr]Senior US officials said Trump was expected to issue a temporary order, the second since he took office, to postpone the transfer of the embassy despite his promise to proceed with the controversial procedure.[/ltr]
[ltr]But Trump is likely to deliver a speech on Wednesday that unilaterally recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, a move that would change US policy decades ago and could fuel violence in the Middle East, but at the same time they said no final decisions had been made.[/ltr]
