    Follow-up / Sky Press:

Sources in the family of the Palestinian billionaire Sabih al-Masri said on Saturday that the Saudi authorities arrested him after a work trip to Riyadh from the Jordanian capital Amman.

"Al-Masri, chairman of Jordan Arab Bank, the most prominent businessman in Jordan with shares in hotels and banks," was arrested after he went to Riyadh last week on a visit to head meetings of companies owned by him, "the sources said.

Al-Quds Al-Arabi published what it said were the details of the arrest, noting that before leaving Riyadh for one night on a private working visit, Al-Masri was busy informing a group of his closest associates about two letters. In the first letter, the close associates understood that "this is my first visit after what is called "The campaign against corruption and the suspicion of Hariri's detention, but my Saudi Arabia and my visit is short, there is absolutely no call to me, I have work and I do not feel any problem or hesitation or anything that makes me hesitate at all."

The newspaper added that Masri had tried to reassure his staff and senior Arab Bank leaders that he would meet with them on Wednesday evening in Amman, where Masri had already invited a wide range of VIPs to a special dinner.

Al-Masri left for Riyadh on his own and on the basis of the absence of any connection between his institutions and investments in Saudi Arabia and the public sector. He headed a board meeting of a company he owns in Saudi Arabia. He held some interviews and went to the airport on his way to Beirut for a short working visit On his way back to Amman.

Just minutes before his arrival at the airport, he received a phone call from an unknown person who told him that he was a "security agency" who asked the Egyptian to park his car on the public street and escort a security patrol vehicle that would arrive immediately.

Al-Masri understood that he had become a detainee and had only two phone calls. First, he told the Arab Bank's senior management, and then someone very close to him.

He then lost contact with Masri, and his family or his office do not know where he is now, amid unconfirmed information that he joined the detainees at the Ritz.
