    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Kurdish politician Latif Al-Sheikh revealed, today, Thursday (November 14, 2024), the extent of the difference between Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani’s visit to Erbil and Sulaymaniyah.
In an interview with Baghdad Today, the sheikh said, "Al-Sudani focused on government files during his visit to Erbil, such as the oil file and its export, salaries and the budget, and other government files, considering that Erbil is the capital."
He added, "Al-Sudani in Sulaymaniyah focused on partisan and political matters and issues more than service and economic matters that concern the Kurdish citizen, such as the file of forming the Kurdistan government, ending the differences between the Kurdish parties, or protocol matters such as visiting the grave of the late President Jalal Talabani."
The Sheikh pointed out that "the most important thing about the visit is an attempt by Al-Sudani to end the Kurdish crisis, because the stability of the region is very important to the Iraqi government."
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani concluded his visit to the Kurdistan Region yesterday evening, Wednesday (November 13, 2024), returning to the capital, Baghdad.
Al-Sudani arrived in Erbil yesterday morning and met with the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, the President of the Region, Nechirvan Barzani, the President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Masoud Barzani, and the Kurdish forces that won the recent Kurdistan Parliament elections.
He then headed to Sulaymaniyah and met with the leadership of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, headed by Paval Talabani, and the rest of the Kurdish forces in the province.
Al-Sudani's talks focused on resolving the remaining outstanding issues between Baghdad and the region, most notably salaries, resuming Kurdistan's oil exports, and accelerating the formation of the new regional government, in addition to regional developments and unifying the Iraqi position on them.
