Parliamentarian: Ambassadors and representatives of foreign missions came to Parliament to prevent the enactment of the law to combat “homosexuality”

Member of Parliament Yousef Al-Kalabi said that the European Union and a large number of countries asked Iraq to stop legislating the law against homosexuality.
Al-Kalabi said in a televised statement that “18 foreign ambassadors and a representative of the European Union came to the House of Representatives to prevent the approval of the law against homosexuality.”
He added that “Iraqis are jealous people, and none of them would accept the enactment of a law against homosexuality,” indicating that “foreign countries tried to dissuade the Iraqi parliament from legislating the law against homosexuality.”
