Minister of Electricity Qassim al-Fahdawi decided to freeze the debts of citizens to the ministry. "

"The new lists will be issued without debt starting in December 2017," Qassem al-Fahdawi said in a statement to the ministry.

The Ministry of Electricity confirmed last month that "the electricity consumption subsidy is subsidized by the government, 94% for citizens, and that there is no validity to cancel the subsidy allocated to segments of consumption of citizens."

The Cabinet also decided in October 2017 to allocate the Ministry of Finance 3 billion dinars, from the emergency reserve to the budget of 2017, for the Ministry of Electricity.
