    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Political researcher Muhammad Ali Al-Hakim considered, on Tuesday (November 12, 2024), that the results of the joint Arab and Islamic summit, which was held in the Saudi city of Riyadh regarding the situations in Gaza and Lebanon, are “ink on paper.”
Al-Hakim said in an interview with Baghdad Today, "The Riyadh summit did not bring anything new. It is a rhetorical summit, and its outcomes will be ink on paper, like previous summits. It will not change anything in reality, and evidence of that is the continuation of the Israeli aggression on Gaza and Lebanon until this hour."
He added, "The position of the Arab countries is very weak towards the Zionist entity, as a large part of them have normalized relations with this entity. Therefore, the Arab summits regarding Israel have no real impact, and the results are ink on paper, and the summits are nothing more than rhetorical speeches without real actions by those countries regarding the crimes committed by the occupying entity in both Gaza and Lebanon."
Yesterday, Monday (November 11, 2024), the Saudi capital, Riyadh, witnessed an Arab-Islamic summit to discuss the situations in Gaza and Lebanon and developments in the region, with the attendance of leaders of Islamic and Arab countries.
Iraq expressed its reservations about the term “two-state solution” in the resolution issued by the Arab and Islamic Summit, in compliance with Iraqi national laws.
Iraq's reservation came in the text of the final statement of the Arab and Islamic summit held today, Monday, in Riyadh.
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani participated in the summit, and said in a speech that "the conflict did not start on (October 7, 2023) as some portray it, in deliberate disregard for decades of occupation, displacement, usurpation of land, and violation of international laws and human rights."
He added, "The ongoing Zionist aggression has caused thousands of martyrs, wounded and missing persons, and millions of displaced persons, most of whom are women and children, in a bloody image recorded in sound and image, and with the disregard of the major countries and the international community."
It is noteworthy that Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan said during a press conference at the conclusion of the summit, "There is no military solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the only solution is the two-state solution," adding that "there is a great consensus from the international community on the two-state solution."
