    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
The Federal Integrity Commission announced, today, Tuesday (November 12, 2024), the issuance of two decisions in absentia sentencing a former manager of a branch of a government bank in Diyala Governorate to severe imprisonment.
The Government Media and Communications Office indicated in a statement received by "Baghdad Today", while talking about the two "new" rulings against the convict, that the Diyala Criminal Court / First Panel issued two rulings in absentia with severe imprisonment for a period of three years for each case, against the former manager of Rashid Bank / Ashnouna Branch (Fatima Rashid Jassim Shabib Al-Qaraghouli) for the crime of intentional harm to public funds, indicating that the decisions were issued in accordance with the provisions of Article (340) of the Penal Code, and in light of the participation articles (47, 48 and 49) thereof.
He added, "During her period of managing the bank, the convict disbursed loans to purchase cars in the names of people without their knowledge or consent, based on forged guarantees. He pointed out that the court, after reviewing the evidence and proofs represented by the recommendations of the administrative investigation, the statements of the legal representative of Rashid Bank who requested the complaint against the accused, and the evidence of her escape, found them sufficient and convincing to convict her; so it decided to sentence her in absentia to severe imprisonment in accordance with the requirements of the judicial article."
He added, "The decision also included an arrest warrant against the convict, the seizure of her movable and immovable assets, and giving the affected party the right to appeal to the civil courts to claim compensation after the decision becomes final."
It is worth noting that the Commission had previously announced on September 12th that five in absentia sentences of severe imprisonment totaling fifteen years had been issued against the convict for the crime of intentionally harming public funds.
